S O L I T U D E Edition of 25 Photography + poetry Artist: Alex Mackenzie *Do I belong here? This energy is anxious, not bright. With no end in sight, just fight or flight. These kids aren’t alright. This air isn’t light. I’m suffocating, chest tight. Neither smog nor smoke… no, it’s generation “grind”. Precluding creative bliss whilst numbing the mind. I don’t want to march amongst drones. Friends, rather than “seeing” each other, hide behind phones. Physically together, increasingly alone. Isolating while feigning connection. With such velocity, moments are blurred. Amongst such chaos, waves won’t be heard. Souls that are perpetually drifting, left unsecured. Humanity is no longer human. I need solitude. A space to pause time, allowing My spine to align, My heart to restart, And my brain to regain the vibrant energy that’s drained from my veins… No, I don’t belong here.*
