Andreas Gysin

Andreas Gysin is a Swiss artist born in 1975 and based in Lugano, where he runs a studio for procedural graphics and animations for screen and print. He encountered ASCII and ANSI art in the 1980s, and works today across interactive installations, kinetic and digital sculptures, and generative art, often under the name ertdfgcvb. He met Sidi Vanetti while studying at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Ticino, and the two still work together; with Kim Asendorf and Leander Herzog he forms the group AGH. Gysin has taught interaction design and programming at ECAL in Lausanne and SUPSI in Lugano, and served as a juror for the Federal Design Commission and the Swiss Design Awards until 2026. His work is held by HeK Basel, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich and the Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana. In February 2025 he showed Lattice at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, in dialogue with Jean Nouvel's Mashrabiya, and his on-chain series Meltdown was presented at Art Basel in 2026.
