chainleft is an artist working in glitch art, on-chain art and conceptual art, who identifies as a West Asian immigrant settled in Central Europe. His background is in data science and machine learning in fintech and e-commerce, and his creative programming grew out of coding data visualizations. In 2021 he came across early on-chain platforms such as int.art and Art Blocks, which drew him fully into NFTs; convinced that most mints were unsustainable, he turned toward historical NFTs. He treats the blockchain itself as a canvas rather than only a way to store or transact images. His works include Chaos Roads (2023) and Crimson Echo, a generative film stored entirely on Ethereum. He has also written on the history of the medium, compiling a public timeline of on-chain projects in 2022 and proposing the On-Chain Canon on the platform JPG in 2023.
