Francesco Aglieri Rinella

Francesco Aglieri Rinella is an Italian photographer, born in 1993, who works in medium format film. He began photographing as a teenager, filming daily life on camcorders and shooting cars at motorsport rallies before moving into portrait and nude work. He has a background in the military. A trip to Japan in 2019 turned his attention toward ordinary, everyday moments, and during Italy's pandemic lockdowns he committed himself to analog and medium format film. His work follows the New Topographics tradition of the man-altered landscape, with Stephen Shore his greatest influence. In 2022 he drove 15,363 kilometers through the American West and Southwest for West Safari, which won the exhibition prize at the 2023 Urban Photo Awards and was shown at the Poreč Museum in Croatia. Galaxies Beneath a Dying Sky, made across the American Midwest, was shortlisted for the 2025 Booooooom Art & Photo Book Award.
