Goyong

Goyong is a digital artist based in Seoul who works under a pseudonym. He majored in sculpture in college, came to prefer working with metal, and sold a metal turtle after a student exhibition as his first piece. He has said that the artist Goyong did not exist before Web3: after discovering NFTs he chose to work with animation and pixels, and became a full-time artist. He cites Andy Warhol's philosophy of the art factory as a formative influence. His work combines painting and animation, rendering cityscapes and everyday scenes as pixelated grids, in works including City and Seoul. He writes his own code for his animated pieces. In 2024 he was one of three inaugural residents of AOTM's Artists in Residence I, alongside Amaan Jahangir and Rebecca Rose, where he produced Lava.
