oveck

oveck is a photographer and digital artist based in New York City. Originally from the Dominican Republic, he began his career as a musician, performing at venues in New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Miami Beach, and turned to photography in 2007 while working in a New York photo studio. He built a style around motion blur in portraits, using in-camera techniques and Photoshop to arrive at a psychedelic, painterly look, and worked for clients including Sony and American Express. In 2016 Sony invited him to become a brand ambassador. In 2020 a bacterial eye infection left his eyesight obstructed after treatment. At his girlfriend's suggestion he took up painting, which he had never done before, and moved into digital painting and animation. His work appeared in The Gateway list in 2022 and the NFT100 list in 2023.
