Stellabelle
Stellabelle is an American cryptoartist, writer and metaverse builder. During the 2008 recession she lost her job and apartment and spent three months on the streets of San Diego, a period in which she sold and gave away handmade postcards under the name Patron Saint of Postcards. She was working as a science and technology writer when she encountered blockchain technology through Steemit in 2016, and has been making and minting art on blockchains since 2017. That year she founded Slothicorn, one of the first Creative Commons cryptoart collectives on the Steem blockchain. She began minting full time in early 2020. Her painting Bitcoin Hard Fork of 2017: Birth of Bitcoin Cash is in MOCA's permanent collection, and she coined the phrase "Wagmi Empire" for newcomers who repurposed cypherpunk culture for profit. Her first solo exhibition, Stellabelle Au Carré, opened at L'Avant Galerie Vossen in Paris in March 2024.
