Studio Captain

Studio Captain is the name used by Stefan Sloot, a visual artist and designer from Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. He makes minimal geometric work that aims for visual calmness built from shapes, in series including Grid, Mislead and Dimensions. His early work, first released on Hic et Nunc, was shown in a solo exhibition staged by kompakd in a virtual gallery on oncyber.io. In 2022, kompakd remixed pieces from his Undisrupted Geometry and Disrupted Geometry series into the set Artem Ex Machina. Sloot was one of 137 artists featured in the 2025 book project Collecting Art Onchain, which pairs interviews with web3 collectors and artist credits spanning digital art from 2014 to 2025.
