SB23 #6

The sixth in a series of photo editions minted in 2023. This photo covers so many Tokyo bases for me. The power lines, the crows, the construction, the skies. Even in black and white I feel the sun and hear the sounds of the early morning bustle as the city begins the wake up. The crows, ever watching flying around overhead. This is the kind of scene which initially inspired my recently announced "Connections" series, so picking this photo for my monthly felt like an appropriate nod. Beyond the literal, this photo shows the balance between the constrained (carefully controlled construction) and the freedom (the flying bird) which I feel is indicative of life in Japan. Always bouncing between the two, never needing to settle on either.
