Tristan Eaton

After graduating from New York’s School of Visual Arts, Tristan Eaton built on his early experience designing toys for Fisher-Price and co-founded the influential company Kidrobot. There, he created the Dunny and Munny, two defining icons of the designer toy movement. He later established Thunderdog Studios, producing original art and design for clients including Nike, Universal, and Hublot while developing a distinctive practice that moves fluidly between commercial design and fine art. Eaton is best known for his large-scale public murals, painted freehand with spray paint in cities from New York and Paris to Shanghai. Drawing on graffiti, traditional muralism, and contemporary pop culture, his work combines historic and modern techniques, materials, and imagery in complex, dynamic compositions. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and has also been exhibited by the Long Beach Museum of Art.
